Dear ,

With the sun shining and England sadly no longer distracting us in the football, many brides are hoping for a long, hot summer whilst they eagerly await their wedding day.  Working in a salon or spa, there's nothing quite like helping the bride get ready for one of the most special days of their life but what else can be offered?  Are there extras that will ensure a happy bride and additional profit?

Looking Radiant

Skincare is one of the most important areas (and for many brides one of their biggest worries!).  Ideally brides should start their preparations three months before the wedding with a routine which will detox the whole body and help ensure a bright, glowing skin.  But a word of warning - don't let the bride-to-be just concentrate on looking good on her wedding day - a happy, healthy newly-wed in a bikini will be much more at ease if her efforts have included a full body skincare routine too!

So, what can you offer?  Packages work really well - so why not look at creating packages that will offer everything for a single discounted price. Try an initial consultation, a three month plan of weekly treatments, a pre-wedding day facial and a special post-honeymoon offer.  Perhaps include the post-honeymoon treatment (facial / manicure) for free as a special gift from you.  This will work two ways - they'll love it and recommend you to their friends, and it will get them to return after their honeymoon hopefully creating another regular client for your books.

Natural nails or terrific talons

Signing the register means every bride's hands are on display.  Weekly manicures will ensure that nails remain healthy and strong, whilst problem nails can also be improved with regular treatments.  Remember to explain to potential clients that transforming someone with bitten nails into the next 'Fairy Liquid' hand model is much easier when you have time to carry out regular treatments rather than them booking in the day before their wedding and hoping you can work miracles.

Marvelous MAke-up

Not every salon or spa offers make-up but many brides-to-be feel happier with a professional doing their make-up for their big day.  If you don't have an in-house make-up artist then why not look at approaching a freelance professional in your area and offering them a room / space in your business in which to do wedding make-up.  This also can apply to a nail technician if you don't normally offer manicures or pedicures.  You don't need to charge them for the room but you can do a profit-share ensuring you are offering an all-round wedding day package which will hopefully attract additional clients.  Alternatively, if you are a freelance beautician, nail technician or make-up artist, why not approach your local salon or spa and offer your help in creating a wedding day package?

Here comes the groom

And finally, don't forget the men!  These days men are regularly visiting salons and spas for treatments so why not offer something for them too.  Whether it's intimate male waxing to prepare for the beach or a manicure for the big day you can increase your profits by ensuring that you cater for both the bride and groom (as well as the bridesmaids, mother of the bride, prospective mother-in-law and guests!!!).

If it's your wedding this summer, we wish you a very happy day.
